Bhaktapur is an ancient city that is popular for its traditions, art, culture and natural beauty as well. It is just 12 km east from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. There are many perfect places to visit near Bhaktapur. Mostly Bhaktapur is renowned for Newari culture and traditions. Newars are native local people of Bhaktapur. They have protected very old and ancient cultures that attract national as well as international tourists. Many temples and heritages of here listed in UNESCO. Bhaktapur is also one of the main tourist areas of Nepal. More than 50,000 tourists visit here in a month. There are different places which are popular to visit and relax.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square

It has a fascinating structured palace of the Royal back then 1769 AD. The 55 windows palace is the most popular one that has traditional wood carving which is eye taking. It has the famous Golden Gate which is also known as entrance gate of the marvellous Taleju Temple. There is another traditional building as well which is now a National Art gallery where visitors can view ancient paintings of ancient kings and other traditional and cultural paintings as well.

Taumadhi Square

Taumadhi Square is famous for Nyatapola temple which dates back to 1702 AD. It is a 5 storage tall temple which is also the tallest Pagoda temple of Nepal. The temple is represents Goddess Siddhi Laxmi, The manifestation of female force and creativity. Next to it there is a Bhairab temple.The popular Biska: Jatra celebrated on Nepali new year is started from this square which makes it more popular.

Changunarayan Temple

It is one of the oldest temples in Kathmandu Valley which was also listed in world heritage in 1979. The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu. This heritage site also has different art carved on the woods of the temple which are ancient and attract tourists.

Nagarkot

This place is on the highest altitude of Bhaktapur. It is at 2195 metre altitude. It is popular for panoramic views such as mountains, sunrise and sunset. There is a view tower from where the view of the beautiful scenery such as Bhaktapur valley, different mountain ranges can be seen. It is also an excellent view of the Indravati river.

Sanga Mahadev

Snaga Mahadev is located at Sanga near Banepa. It is around 30 minutes away from Bhaktapur. It is famous for the statue of lord Shiva which is also the tallest mahadev statue in Nepal. The statue is about 144 feet tall. Also people who believe in lord Shiva came here for worship.

Pilot Baba

It is located 6 kilometres south of Bhaktapur which is also a fast trip to the top of the hill which also emerge in nature. Most of the people visited here for their short hiking as the way there is jungle and people enjoy it whereas people visit here for refreshment and relax.

Siddha Pokhari

Siddha Pokhari is a historical pond located in Bhaktapur. In newari language, people called it ‘Ta Pukhu’. This means biggest pond in Newari language. Mostly people walk around the pond and enjoy nature. The fish are cultivated where people enjoy watching it as well as feeding them.

Dhulikhel

Dhulikhel is the nearest visiting place from Bhaktapur which lies in Kavrepalanchowk District. It is famous for picnics and short tours. From the height of Dhulikhel, people can enjoy beautiful scene of valley.

Kathmandu Durbar Square

Kathmandu durbar square is located about 15 kilometres west from Bhaktapur. It is also the UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a complex palace, courtyards and temples with intricate architecture.

 Patan Durbar Square

It is approximately 12 kilometres away from Bhaktapur. This is an ancient royal palace complex in Patan that also showcases Newari architecture and art. This place consists of the famous Krishna Mandir which resembel lord Krishna. Many people from different places visit here to worship here.
